Rural Priorities: Senator Roger Marshall’s efforts to protect farmers and ranchers

All month we have been highlighting mental health resources in agriculture as we spotlight National Suicide Prevention Month.

Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas is leading an awareness campaign to bring attention to the struggles that farmers and ranchers are facing not only in his home state but across the country. He joined us on set to discuss those efforts as well as for an update on the Farm Bill.

Also, Pork producers continue navigating production changes resulting from California’s Proposition 12. To help better protect farmers and ranchers moving forward, lawmakers recently introduced the Eats Act to prohibit local units of government from interfering with ag production of another state.

Senator Marshall provided further insight on the legislation as well as work underway to bridge the digital divide for rural America and protect farmers from foreign purchases of U.S. ag land.
