Plant-Based Color: Agriculture’s contribution to sustainable fashion

The fashion industry as a whole contributes substantially to global pollution, but a Tennessee company and its farmers are working on a sustainable solution.

Stony Creek Colors was founded in 2012 by Sarah Bellos with a goal of shifting clothing dye away from hazardous synthetics to plant-based, climate-positive dyes.

The company partners with local farmers to grow indigo plants for natural color.

Bellos and dye-specialist Eva Sailly joined Tammi Arender on the Market Day Report to share how the indigo is grown and used for dye, the positive environmental impact of the process, and how you can do it at home!
