California lawmakers are joining the push to limit foreign ownership of farmland in the state.
Lawmakers introduced a bill to ban foreign governments and enterprises from purchasing ag land in California starting next year. It would also require the state to track foreign government ownership and publish those records in annual reports.
Sponsors say the bill would put the state in control of its food supply chain and give a better understanding of who controls California’s resources.
