As the August congressional recess gets underway, several House Ag lawmakers are hitting the road—passing up their home districts to hold Farm Bill Listening Sessions instead. One such event will be held Monday afternoon in Maine.
The event held in Freeport, Maine, which kicks off at 2 p.m. ET, will be a chance for the Washington policymakers to get feedback from producers as the clock ticks down on the deadline for the 2023 Farm Bill.
Rep. GT Thompson, the Republican from Pennsylvania and House Ag Chair will be joined by several lawmakers, including Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME). Thompson says work has slowed because they have been waiting for data on just how much money will be available for this year’s legislation.
