Nationwide crop performance exceeds expectations and paving the way for a bountiful harvest season, according to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Crop Progress Report for Sept. 25, 2023.
USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey says the storm could cause problems for several key crops grown in the Southwestern region, including parts of California and Arizona, along the storm’s path. It also carries risk for potential flash flooding and strong wind gusts as it travels north.
Producers out West are learning from cotton growers in Louisiana and Mississippi this week at the National Cotton Council’s Producer Information Exchange Tour.
According to experts, Georgia cotton producers are in a difficult spot after storms damaged their crops.
Under the new rules, U.S. cotton can now enter the country with a phytosanitary certificate and an additional declaration saying the bale does not contain boll weevil.
