It has been more than a month since Russia backed out of the Black Sea Grain Deal, but Turkey is in talks with the Kremlin to try and rekindle that agreement.
Reuters reports that Russian president Vladimir Putin is expected to meet with Turkey’s president in the coming days. Earlier this month, Putin said Moscow was ready to rejoin the initiative, but only if the West met certain obligations with Russian grain exports.
Turkish officials recently met with Ukrainian leaders and reiterated the grain deal is a priority for them. The deal’s expiration has essentially halted all movements out of the region, with only the second grain ship leaving Odesa in the last few days.
