Bonjour,
I’m helping promote a French concert by Les Nubians playing at the Showbox SoDo September 23rd. Les Nubians is an R&B Grammy-nominated duo composed of sisters Hélène and Célia Faussart from Paris, France. Also lived in Chad for 7 years.
With an inventive and glamorous Afropean style, their distinctive sound embodies the timeless vibrations of Ella Fitzgerald, Fela Kuti, Edith Piaf, and The Fugees. They have shared the stage with Jill Scott, James Brown, Zap Mama. Their U.S. debut album inn 1999 was the most successful French-language album in decades!
Two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards nominations, have also been nominated for two NAACP Image Awards.
As a French community resource, I thought it might be a local event your audience might be interested in knowing about.
In light of cross promoting, if you are interested, helping spread the word about Les Nubians, via mediums like Facebook, Twitter, announcing in a newsletter you may have to reach out to your community as well as possibly holding some flyers in your space for people to take (in case of any meetings). I'd love to further discuss many other options to further the exchange around Les Nubians' show. Just helping spread the word and promote to the local French community!

Playing French Seattle 2010
Plans are now underway for our next festival of plays in French. I hope you can participate in 2010. Beginning on Monday, September 27th we will meet weekly each Monday, starting at 6 pm, at University Heights (University Way and 50th) to read and select scripts, audition, cast and rehearse the shows and readings.
On the table right now are fifteen short plays and adaptations found in a 1919 anthology by Victor E. Francois, thus the working theme of the festival "Fifteen Plays in Fifteen Days!" The last play in this little book is an adaptation of Molière's "Le Médecin Malgré Lui," (see character list below) to be followed by a new one act ("...Malgré Lui") presently in draft.
If you would like to work on this year's festival, as an actor, crewperson, supertitler, box office worker, usher, marketer, or otherwise volunteer, please come to the first meeting on Monday, September 27th at 6 pm (University Heights Center, room 109).
I will be in travelling through the south of France from September 12th - 23rd, so I may be a little slow in responding to messages, but please be assured that there's still lots of room for fresh talent and ideas!
I hope you will contact me with suggestions and to confirm your participation.

Nous cherchons une nounou un après-midi par semaine, de préférence jeudi, probablement lundi) après-l’ecole pour garder et enseigner notre fille âgé de 7 ans. Nous voulons quelqu'un pour parler toujours en français avec lui. Elle est allée à L’Ecole Franco-Americaine du Puget Sound pendant quatre années, puisqu'elle était trois années mais mais n'ira pas cette année. Nous ne parlons pas français bien. Si vous pouvez parler anglais un peu, il aiderait. Allez à un musée, allez faire des emplettes, jouez, chantez. Vous pouvez décider quoi faire -- Ayez l'amusement avec elle et parlez français avec elle.
Nous offrons $20 par l’heure. Vous devez être français ou française de langue maternelle (ou l'avez appris a l'école primaire).
